Effortless Singular Nature

I’ve lived at the base of the majestic mountains of Montana most of my life. During the 2nd year of the pandemic, I sunk deep into my inner knowing and took steps that landed me in a new state, California—(more about those micro-steps in a future blog). Surprisingly, it has taken quite some time to acclimate and settle into this incredible sanctuary that includes an outrageously awe-inspiring amount of nature and animals to enjoy by the ocean side. I have always felt as if I were a part of the land in Montana, integrated into its landscape and beauty. Moving here was like getting to know a new friend. It’s taken an openness and commitment to discovery, forming a relationship with the ocean and hillsides, and most of all, an understanding that I was ok no matter my location—a part of a singular nature. I feel fortunate for the grandeur of nature permeating here too. I have had the constant support of all of its soothing sounds, its aliveness, and its intelligence.

The practice of yoga and meditation is like this. In a simple way, you begin to get to know the landscape of your body, the inner workings of your mind, how you feel, what you sense, and ultimately, your own true nature. It’s entirely magical because in an effortless way your comfort level grows within yourself, your inherent okayness—you begin to befriend your ‘actual you’ which is always present regardless of time, place, or circumstance. It happens simply by showing up to the practice again and again.
